JERRY REED

Most people my age will probably only know Jerry as Burt Reynold's sidekick 'Snowman' in 'Smokey and the Bandit'. However, Jerry has to be one of the greatist pickers of all time. From the Chet Atkins mode of playing but with more grit and backwoods funk. The guy has been playing licks that'll turn your fingers in knots since the '50's. He wrote several hit's for Elvis including Guitar Man and U S Male. Both which he played on because no one else could figure them out and play them like he did.

Although a few people may remember his 70's comical hits like "She Got the Goldmine, i Got The Shaft' and 'When Your Hot, Your Hot', he's been writing songs like that for years. Always with very intricate guitar parts. He also has a ton of amazing instrumentals that will blow your mind.

If you can still find it, I think theres a web-site called 'funky junk' that has all of his old records for sale. Since most are out of print, you can find a lot here. I found a compilation tape of all his instrumental stuff there.
